AJM Transport is a family owned and operated national transport and logistics company specialising in express linehaul freight with branches in Newcastle, Brisbane and Melbourne. We operate a fleet of 90 prime movers and 250+ trailers, forklifts and company vehicles.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to manage the fleet maintenance for both our line haul and local fleet. You will work closely with the Operations & Maintenance teams to coordinate maintenance schedules and provide technical and mechanical services at our Brooklyn depot. The ideal candidate will be trade qualified and have several years post‑trade experience. Experience with Kenworth, Volvo and Cummins powered vehicles would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

- Work with the General Manager – Maintenance and Operations teams.
- Diagnose faults on trucks and trailers.
- Perform electrical and EBS diagnostics.
- Carry out service, maintenance and repair work on vehicles and trailers.
- Check own work to ensure it meets OEM requirements.




- Service the fleet in accordance with the scheduled maintenance program.
- Maintain a secure, organised workshop and work area.
- Be available for after‑hours breakdowns as required.
- Maintain company ute and mobile phone.

Qualifications / Requirements

- HR, HC and Forklift licence would be advantageous.
- Have fleet maintenance experience.
- Possess high level technical ability, skill and knowledge.
- Be able to diagnose and rectify mechanical problems accurately and efficiently.
- Be able to work unsupervised and to a high standard.
- Prioritise workload to meet tight freight deadlines.
- Be trustworthy, hardworking and take pride in your work.
- Have excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
- Be available to work overtime / after hours on breakdowns when required.
- Have a strong commitment and understanding of Work, Health and Safety requirements.
