About the role
This role is an exciting opportunity to join our Business and Private Client Advisory division, supporting medium and large private businesses, family groups, and foreign‑owned businesses. The role involves accounting and tax compliance, business and tax advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management, and transactional services.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare company, trust, and partnership tax returns.
- Prepare Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements.
- Process and manage Tax Office correspondence (assessments, instalments, PAYG variations).
- Prepare Fringe Benefit tax returns.
- Prepare financial accounts for all entities.
- Prepare and analyse standard management reports (cash flow, budgets, etc.).
- Prepare workpapers to the Division’s quality standards.
- Provide feedback, guidance, and support to junior team members, acting as a buddy when required.
- Prepare budgets and bills for services rendered.
- Perform other duties such as training, career‑fair attendance,
committee membership, marketing, and special projects.
Key skills and experience
- Minimum 18 months to 3 years of experience in a Business Services setting in a Chartered/CPA accounting practice with exposure to tax issues.
- Degree qualified and currently undertaking CA/CPA studies.
- Technically proficient with a keen interest in developing knowledge and staying updated on tax and accounting developments.
- Ability to support junior staff and act as a buddy.
- Capability to identify issues for discussion with the appropriate manager.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills to meet deadlines for a large client group.
- Professional appearance and excellent interpersonal and communication skills used in client, partner, and staff interactions.
- Experience with APS, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and competency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
