About the Role Working as part of a skilled production team, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, testing and quality assurance of sophisticated electrical and mechanical equipment. This is a hands-on role requiring solid technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Basic mechanical and electrical assembly
- Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly plans and work instructions
- Install nuts, bolts, frames and structural components onto trailers, booms, beams and equipment housings
- Production line and bench assembly work
- Build and install electrical panels onto equipment
- Install wiring and electrical panels into trailers and mobile camera equipment
- Assemble and install stationary camera systems and boom structures
- Electrical component assembly
- Connect optical wiring and associated components
- Assemble electrical panels from provided assembly sheets
- Prepare products for assembly and quality testing
- Inspect sub-assemblies for workmanship and compliance
- Perform simple low-voltage electronic testing
- Connect and secure electrical wiring and cabling
- Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality
- Test and calibrate equipment to required specifications
- Carry out mechanical and electrical engineering-based assembly tasks
- Complete installation, connection and disconnection of wiring, optics and cameras
- Assemble complete mobile trailer units from base shell through to finished product
- Oversee electrical installation and wiring activities
- Conduct equipment and software testing
- Perform final QA/QC inspections
- Complete production documentation and sign off completed job orders
About You The ideal candidate will have previous experience in electrical, electronics or mechanical assembly, with exposure to wiring, panel building, low-voltage systems or similar production environments. Experience reading technical drawings, using hand and power tools, and assembling electrical components is essential, while switchboard work, optical wiring, soldering and testing experience will be highly regarded.
The Must haves:
- Construction White Card (mandatory for this role)
- Must be able to pass a NSW police check for this role
- Must be able to provide an RTA Printout for this role
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade/technical discipline
- Automotive Mechanics are encouraged to apply
- Previous experience in electrical assembly, electronics assembly, trades assistant or technician roles
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Experience assembling electrical components
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly documentation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Highly Regarded
- Experience building switchboards
- Experience with electronics assembly
- Experience with wiring of complex electrical systems
- Experience assembling mobile or fixed camera systems, monitoring equipment or similar technology
- Optical/fibre wiring experience
- Soldering experience
- Pop rivet gun and riveting experience
- Forklift Licence
- Experience in testing, fault finding and quality assurance
