About the role

We are seeking an experienced A Grade Electrician Leading Hand to join Onelec Data & Electrical in Melbourne. This is a full-time position, Onelec Data & Electrical is based in Bayswater Victoria 3156. As a Leading Hand, you will take on a supervisory and technical leadership role, overseeing electrical projects and teams whilst maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety.

This position is integral to our operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the exceptional quality our clients expect.

What you'll be doing

- Lead and supervise electrical / civil construction teams on site, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company standards
- Plan and coordinate electrical / civil installation, maintenance and repair of road based electrical infrastructure projects from start to finish
- Conduct site inspections and assess electrical and communication requirements for new and existing installations
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and communications faults and implement effective solutions
- Mentor and train junior electricians and apprentices on best practices and technical skills
- Liaise with clients, architects and other tradespeople to ensure seamless project coordination
- Maintain comprehensive records of work completed, materials used and time logs
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian electrical standards and regulations
- Manage tool and equipment inventory and perform preventative maintenance

What we're looking for





- Current A Grade Electrical License with leading hand endorsement or equivalent qualification
- Open Cablers registration with endorsements an advantage.
- EWP / working at heights training and certification an advantage.

- Truck License and advantage
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on electrical experience in industrial or traffic signals or technical electrical environments
- Wiliness to learn and take on new tasks and training.
- Proven experience in team leadership and mentoring of junior staff
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, circuitry and installation techniques
- Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Current First Aid Certificate and working knowledge of workplace safety procedures
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Reliable transport and willingness to travel to various sites across Melbourne
- Desirable: Experience with data center installations, renewable energy systems or smart building technologies
