About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and well-connected Community Liaison and Support professional to join a growing team supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Alice Springs and Central Australia.

Working three days per week (preferred Tuesday to Thursday), this position plays a vital role in building strong relationships with communities, increasing awareness of dementia support services and ensuring individuals and families can access culturally safe support when they need it.

This role is based in a shared office space in Alice Springs and offers opportunities to travel to remote Aboriginal communities throughout Central Australia. Occasional travel to Darwin and interstate may also be required for conferences, training and organisational events.

This role will work closely alongside another Community Liaison and Support team member to ensure culturally appropriate engagement across communities.



A dedicated mentor based in Darwin will also provide ongoing support and guidance.

This is currently a 0.6 FTE position due to funding arrangements. Should additional funding become available, there may be opportunities for increased hours in the future.

Key Responsibilities

- Build respectful, culturally safe relationships with Elders, families, communities and local organisations.
- Promote awareness of dementia and available support services within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Support individuals and families to access services and navigate appropriate support pathways.
- Facilitate community conversations, education sessions and engagement activities.
- Work collaboratively with communities to develop culturally appropriate resources and initiatives.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across health, community and social service sectors.
- Travel regularly to remote communities across Central Australia to support engagement and service delivery.
- Contribute insights and feedback to strengthen service accessibility and community outcomes.

What We're Looking For To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Strong experience engaging and building trust with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain meaningful community relationships.
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to community-led approaches.
- An understanding of the social,



cultural and historical factors impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Experience in community engagement, community liaison, community development or similar roles.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote communities.

Highly regarded experience includes:

- Case management experience.
- Community liaison or outreach experience.
- Experience working within health, disability, aged care or social services sectors.
- Knowledge or understanding of dementia and related support services.
