Established in 1987 in Shenzhen, China Merchants Bank (CMB) is at the forefront of China's reform and opening-up drive, CMB is China's first joint-stock commercial bank and also the first bank to attend the national experiment for the promotion of China's banking industry reform driven by endeavors from outside the government.

After conducting years of market research regarding the viability of the Bank's expansion into Australia, CMB became the first non-state-owned Chinese commercial bank to seek ADI authorisation in Australia. Overseas expansion is one of the Bank's global strategic objectives and CMB considers this a long term commitment.

Currently we are seeking an Accountant to join our team on a maternity leave contract. Candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years' relevant accounting experience and the ability to work effectively in a professional banking environment.

Responsibilities shall include, however not be limited to:

· Preparation and lodgement of regulatory returns to statutory bodies within the required due date.

· Preparation of monthly management accounts including variance analysis.

· Assist in preparation and lodgement of tax returns promptly for income tax, FBT, BAS/GST, AIIR, and IWT respectively. This includes having a good understanding of respective ATO forms and requirements, tax changes,



and what constitute deductible/non-deductible with accurate calculations.

· Preparation of month end close procedures including accruals, prepayments and associated journals are completed promptly.

· Assist in various projects that have accounting/tax implications on the branch such as transfer pricing;

· Participate in various external seminars provided by professional firms as required.

· Complete other tasks that may be required and instructed by Head of FAD.

Skills and Attributes:

· Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.

· At least 3 years of accounting or finance experience; banking or financial services experience is preferred.

· Good understanding of basic accounting, month-end close, management reporting and regulatory reporting; APRA reporting experience is highly regarded.

· Advanced Excel skills and good capability in data preparation, reconciliation, analysis and reporting.

· Robust compliance awareness, documentation discipline, attention to detail and ownership.

· Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to coordinate across departments.

· Proactive team player, with flexibility to work overtime and undertake short-term travel when required.
