Role Description The Accountant / Payable Specialist is a part time remote role responsible for managing accounts payable and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of BREI. This role includes processing vendor invoices, verifying supporting documentation, coding expenses to appropriate accounts, and ensuring timely and accurate payments.

The specialist will reconcile accounts payable records, monitor outstanding balances, and assist in preparing financial reports and payment summaries. Additional tasks may include supporting budget tracking, maintaining vendor records, responding to payment-related inquiries, and helping improve internal financial processes. The role requires consistent attention to detail, integrity in handling financial data, and clear communication with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Qualifications

- Strong accounts payable skills, including invoice processing, expense coding, reconciliation, and vendor payment management.
- Proficiency with accounting software and tools (e.g.,



QuickBooks, ERP systems, spreadsheets) and comfort working with digital financial records.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, general ledger entries, and financial reporting practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a remote environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with vendors, colleagues, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and follow established financial procedures and controls.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in non-profit or research/education organizations and familiarity with the automotive or manufacturing sector is an advantage.
