Senior AI Engineer

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join a high-profile federal government project focused on delivering secure, scalable and responsible AI solutions. In this role, you will design, develop and implement enterprise AI capabilities using Microsoft technologies, including Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio and AI Agents. You will work with business stakeholders, cyber security teams, architects and data specialists to deliver innovative AI-enabled services that improve productivity, decision-making and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy enterprise AI solutions and agentic applications.
- Build and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, AI agents and workflow automation capabilities.
- Develop user-friendly AI applications and front-end experiences that drive adoption and business value.
- Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems, APIs, databases and external data sources.
- Implement vector search, document intelligence and data ingestion pipelines.
- Conduct AI testing, evaluation and assurance activities, including bias testing, model validation and prompt injection assessments.
- Ensure compliance with AI governance, privacy, security and responsible AI requirements.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture artefacts and operational procedures.
- Support knowledge transfer and capability uplift across internal teams.
About You
- Proven experience delivering enterprise AI solutions using Microsoft AI technologies.
- Strong expertise in Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, AI Agents and RAG implementations.
- Development experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and API integration frameworks.
- Experience building microservices, workflow orchestration and AI-enabled business applications.
- Solid understanding of AI governance, security, privacy and assurance requirements within government or highly regulated environments.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and documentation skills.
