Assistant Venue Manager | Willowdale Hotel
Help Lead One of South-West Sydney’s Favourite Community Venues Willowdale Hotel is searching for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Venue Manager who is passionate about great hospitality, developing strong teams and creating memorable guest experiences.
This is more than simply supervising a shift. You will be a key member of the venue’s leadership team, working alongside the Venue Manager to guide daily operations, support our people and help Willowdale Hotel continue to grow.

The Opportunity
Assistant Venue Managers are the heart of every venue, and Willowdale Hotel is no exception. This role will dive straight into leading by example from day one, joining a team of strong hospitality superstars to deliver excellent leadership to our team and customer service to our guests. As Assistant Venue Manager, you will take ownership of the venue while on shift and lead from the floor.
You will support the Venue Manager across people leadership, customer experience, operational performance, compliance and the continued development of our team. You will lead our team across all aspects of the venue and always be hands on. Our managers don’t sit in an office,
they’re on the floor assisting customers and walking the walk at all times. Everything from pouring beers, to punching through orders, to leading the pass and assisting in the gaming room – our venue is your venue!
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the venue while on shift
- Maintaining a visible and proactive leadership presence across the venue
- Creating a welcoming, secure and memorable experience for every guest
- Coaching, training and mentoring team members
- Building a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture
- Supporting labour management, cost control and operational targets
- Overseeing food and beverage, gaming and general venue operations
- Ensuring compliance with liquor, gaming, workplace and company requirements
- Supporting stock control, stocktakes and operational systems
- Resolving guest concerns professionally and confidently
- Identifying opportunities to improve service and operational performance
- Leading by example during busy services, events and peak trading periods
About You You are a calm, capable and energetic hospitality leader who is comfortable making decisions and stepping forward when the venue gets busy.
You understand that strong venue management is not about leading from the sidelines. It is about being present, supporting your team, reading the room and helping everyone deliver their best.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
- Current NSW RSA,
RCG and RGO certifications
- Positive attitude to learning and development
- At least 1 years’ experience in a venue supervision or management role
- Competent knowledge of TAB, Keno & gaming systems & procedures
- Strong leadership skills
- Competent knowledge of venue finances and managing cash flow
- Ability to multitask across all aspects of a working venue
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Great verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience with functions, events and live entertainment is highly regarded
- This role is available only to those will full Australian working rights.
