Your role will include but not be limited to:

As the Canteen Officer, you will maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions and conduct face to face sales canteen sales with detainees. This is a casual, site-based position at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre working rostered shifts Monday to Sunday.

The ongoing shifts required per week will be Monday & Friday - 1:30PM to 5:30PM as well as Saturday & Sunday - 10AM to 4PM. There may be other hours throughout the week but not fixed like these.

- Cooperate and communicate effectively and in a pro-social manner with other staff members, transferees, visitors, vendors and other stakeholders
- Use the Point-of-Sales system for receipt and issue of inventory
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts (license advantageous not essential), pallet jacks and hand trucks physically and electronically receive, store and distribute goods and materials
- All aspects of inventory management,



including rotation of inventory based in FIFO principles
- Conduct monthly counts of inventory and raise monthly replenishment requisitions to ensure that stock levels are sufficiently maintained
- Conduct quarterly stock takes and report any variances and reasons for variances to the Accountant or Finance & Administration Manager

Ideal requirements:

- Previous experience working in retail or hospitality highly desirable
- High level customer service skills
- Ability to use POS and track inventory
- Ability to work part of a team
- Solid organisational and communication skills
- Proven rights to work in Australia
- Ability to pass pre-employment checks such as Australian Federal Police Checks & Pre-employment Medical checks
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
- Hold a current First Aid & CPR Check (or willing to obtain)
