Located in Ulverstone, Hive is the Central Coast’s cultural precinct and home to the Ulverstone Visitor Information Centre, Museum and Art Gallery, Planetarium and Tasmanian Science Centre. Every year, more than 35,000 people visit Hive to explore new ideas, uncover local stories and experience the joy of discovery through arts, culture and science.

As the Collection Officer, you will play a key role in preserving and improving access to the Central Coast’s Cultural Collections by leading the implementation of the new Vernon Collection Management System (CMS). Reporting to the Hive Curator, you will prepare and migrate collection data, test and configure the current system, and establish best-practice collection management processes. You will help ensure the Collections are accurately documented, well organised and accessible for future generations.

You will also coordinate the ongoing collection audit, improve collection documentation and storage, and supervise volunteers supporting the project.

This fixed-term position is ideal for someone with experience in museum collections, archives or cultural heritage who is looking to lead a significant project that will strengthen the long-term care, management and accessibility of the Central Coast’s cultural collections.

- Sound knowledge of collection handling, storage and preventive conservation principles.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and deliver project outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Experience coordinating or supervising volunteers, staff or project contributors.
- High-level organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Salary and conditions:

- Fixed-term Part-time position (1 day/7.5 hours per week for up to 12 months).
- Central Coast Council’s Enterprise Agreement – Professional Level 1 ($42.34 per hour).
