We’re looking for a Community Engagement Lead to help deliver inclusive, best-practice engagement that meaningfully connects with communities across Australia. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role within our supportive Audience Insights & Engagement team. The role can be based in either Melbourne or Sydney, with our focus firmly on finding the right person for the role and team.
About the role In this role, you'll support the delivery of community engagement initiatives that are respectful, thoughtful and outcomes-focused. Working alongside senior engagement practitioners, you'll help build and maintain trusted relationships with a wide range of communities, stakeholders and organisations. You'll work closely with community leaders, service providers and advocacy organisations to coordinate engagement activities across a range of client projects. From consultations and focus groups through to case studies, workshops and community events, you'll help ensure community voices are represented authentically and respectfully. This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives on organisation and coordination, and values building genuine, trust-based relationships. You'll be equally comfortable out in the community, coordinating logistics behind the scenes, or working alongside project teams to deliver high-quality engagement.
Key responsibilities include
Community engagement and delivery
Build and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders, organisations and networks.
Support the planning and delivery of community engagement activities across multiple projects.
Recruit and coordinate participants for consultations, interviews, focus groups and workshops.
Coordinate case studies, community ambassadors and subject matter experts.
Assist with facilitating community discussions and engagement activities.
Help ensure engagement activities are culturally responsive, inclusive and well organised. Project coordination
Coordinate engagement activities across client projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
Prepare stakeholder lists, contact databases and engagement materials.
Manage schedules, logistics and communications for engagement activities and events.
Maintain accurate CRM records, participant databases and project documentation.
Support reporting, evaluation and project administration. Team and client support
Work collaboratively with project teams to deliver engagement activities to a high standard.
Share community insights and observations with the broader project team.
Support proposal development and other business development activities where required.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engagement processes, resources and ways of working. About you
We’re looking for someone with the drive, curiosity and capability to grow into the role. You don’t need to have mastered everything already, but you’ll likely bring: Around 2-4 years' experience in community engagement, stakeholder engagement,
communications or a related field.
Experience working alongside diverse communities and stakeholders.
Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
Highly organised, with excellent coordination and administrative capability.
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced workplace.
A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from experienced practitioners.
Culturally responsive, empathetic and thoughtful in the way you work.
Comfortable travelling nationally when required. Most importantly, you're someone who understands that great engagement isn't transactional.
