Construction Manager – HV Substations & BESS
We are partnering with a leading Australian EPC contractor delivering major high-voltage substation and BESS projects across NSW. With a solid pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint two experienced Construction Managers to lead the safe and successful delivery of site-based construction activities.
About the Role
Reporting to the NSW Construction Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day site delivery across multidisciplinary, utility-scale high-voltage projects of 132kV and above. You will lead civil and electrical contractors, coordinate construction activities and ensure each project is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Projects are located across Sydney, Newcastle and regional NSW, with DIDO arrangements available depending on the project. Due to travel requirements, applicants must be based in NSW or willing to relocate, with project locations generally requiring no more than half a day’s travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site-based construction activities across HV substation and BESS projects
- Manage multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors across civil and electrical works
- Coordinate outages, permits, resources and construction sequencing
- Work closely with Project Managers, clients, utilities and internal delivery teams
- Oversee safety, quality, environmental compliance, progress, costs and site reporting
About You
- Experience leading the site delivery of utility-scale BESS and/or substations or comparable HV infrastructure at 132kV or above
- Current NSW electrical license – mandatory
- Strong capability managing multidisciplinary contractors and site teams across civil and electrical works
- Practical understanding of safety, quality, permits, outages and construction sequencing
- Based in NSW or willing to relocate, with flexibility to travel to regional project sites
Desirable
- Experience delivering projects for Australian utilities or renewable energy clients
- Exposure to BESS and grid-connected renewable energy projects
- Experience working under DIDO or regional project arrangements
- Knowledge of Australian utility standards and requirements
- Additional qualifications in construction management or safety
What’s on Offer
- LAFHA of approximately $293–$300 per day on eligible projects
- Overtime paid at time and a half after nine hours, including weekend work
- Typical 10–11-hour working days, depending on project requirements
- 11/3 roster, including a paid day off following the eleventh day
