Corporate Counsel The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic corporate and commercial lawyer to join our high-performing in-house Legal, Compliance & Risk team.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Legal & Governance, you will play a trusted advisory role across a diverse and dynamic business operating throughout Australia and New Zealand. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of commercial, regulatory and dispute-related matters, partnering closely with key stakeholders and senior leaders to support strategic and operational decision-making.

You'll enjoy exposure to all facets of the business, with a strong focus on commercial contracting, negotiation and risk management. As part of a collaborative and highly experienced team, you'll receive ongoing mentoring, professional development and the opportunity to build genuine commercial acumen while developing your in-house legal career.

Based at our Wacol, Brisbane facilities, this role also offers the chance to work closely with stakeholders across multiple locations, with occasional travel as required.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key member of the Legal, Compliance & Risk team, you will:

- Provide commercially focused legal advice on contracts, tenders and pre-contractual documentation.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Partner with operational and business leaders to identify, assess and mitigate legal and compliance risks.
- Deliver practical guidance on regulatory obligations and industry best practices.
- Support the management of disputes, litigation and external legal providers.
- Develop and deliver training to enhance legal and compliance awareness across the business.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
- Act as a trusted legal adviser, providing strategic support across a wide range of business initiatives.

About You





You are a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys partnering with stakeholders and delivering practical solutions to complex legal issues. You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate confidently with both legal and non-legal audiences, and are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the success of the business.

To be successful, you will bring:

- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a current Australian practising certificate.
- At least 3 years' post-admission experience gained in a reputable law firm, in-house legal team, or a combination of both.
- Strong experience in commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice on regulatory and commercial matters.
- Excellent legal research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building and negotiation capabilities.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Additional Requirements
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain Defence-level security clearance if required.
