Role Description The Cost Accounting Supervisor is a full time, on-site role based in The Head, QLD, responsible for overseeing cost accounting activities to support accurate product costing and informed business decisions. This role supervises the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of cost records, including inventory valuations, standard costs, and variance reports, ensuring alignment with accounting policies and financial reporting requirements.

The Cost Accounting

Supervisor collaborates closely with operations, procurement, and finance teams to track material, labor, and overhead costs, monitor cost drivers, and recommend efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.



Daily tasks include reviewing journal entries related to cost accounts, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing cost-related reports for management, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting. The role also involves maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, mentoring team members, and contributing to continuous improvement of cost accounting systems and procedures.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Cost Accounting and Accounting skills, with experience in product costing, standard costing, and inventory valuation.
- Candidates should possess solid Finance and Financial Statements skills, including the ability to interpret cost data within overall financial performance.
- Candidates should possess advanced Analytical Skills, with the ability to identify trends, variances, and root causes and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an advantage.
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments and familiarity with ERP or accounting systems are highly beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities, including experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
- Commitment to ethical practices, accuracy, and continuous improvement in financial and operational processes.
