Position Overview The Office of the Hon Tim Wilson MP is seeking a creative and organised casual design and social media coordinator to support the office’s media and communications work. This role is ideal for someone who is formally trained in visual and or graphic design, is fluent in social media, has website management experience and can turn local issues, community visits and parliamentary work into clear, engaging content.
Working closely with the team in Brighton East, you will help develop and deliver digital and print content that keeps the Goldstein community informed and engaged.
A high level of attention to detail is a must. The key duties of the position include but are not limited to: Creating social media content, including both video and static image content. This will likely involve a large proportion of short-form video content;
Designing flyers, invitations, newsletters and local campaign materials;
Photographing and filming community events, visits and meetings;
Scheduling and publishing content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other platforms;
Helping maintain a consistent visual style and tone across office communications;
Updating and maintaining the website;
Supporting the team with website, email newsletter and digital communications tasks; and
Ensuring materials are accurate, skilled, and comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
· While the successful candidate may have an occasional opportunity to travel to Canberra (subject to consultation) this is likely to be rare and unusual. The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience: Formal qualifications and training and experience in graphic/visual design;
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and similar design tools;
Experience creating content for a range of social media platforms;
Experience measuring and reporting on the performance of social media content;
Experience with website content management systems;
Organised, reliable and able to work to deadlines;
Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team, consulting with and obtaining approval from relevant stakeholders; and
Politically aware and comfortable working in a parliamentary office environment advocating for the policy priorities of Tim Wilson MP.
Hours and location
This is a casual role based in Tim Wilson MP’s electorate office in Brighton East. The required hours are subject to the demands of the tasks required. There will be attendance required at local events outside standard office hours. Applicants should note the following:
· The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27.
· The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check. · Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
· The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
