About the Role The Development Kitchen Specialist supports the development of Breville’s cooking and food preparation products by bringing strong food knowledge, hands-on testing capability, and evidence-based recommendations into the product development process.

This role is responsible for evaluating product performance structured testing, data collection, benchmarking, and product development, then translating findings into clear, actionable feedback for cross-functional teams. Working closely with Engineering, Design, and regional Development Kitchen team members, the Specialist helps improve food outcomes, validate product performance, and support products that meet consumer needs and intended claims.

This role is hands-on in the kitchen, but it is ultimately product-development focused, working with Designs and Engineers. It plays an important part in shaping performance feedback, supporting product decisions, and embedding food thinking throughout development.





We’re Interested in Hearing from People Who Have:

· A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in small kitchen appliance development, recipe development, culinary roles, home economics, or a related field

· Solid food knowledge across cooking techniques, ingredient behaviour, and test recipe development · Experience conducting structured product, test recipe, or performance testing and turning results into practical recommendations

· The ability to assess food outcomes critically and communicate findings clearly and objectively

· Experience working across multiple priorities in a quick-paced product development or test kitchen environment

· Strong written communication skills, including report writing and documentation

· Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams

· A practical, organised, and detail-oriented approach to kitchen work and project support

· Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, interacting with ChatGPT or similar AI tools

Preferred qualifications

· Experience working with small kitchen appliances, particularly in cooking or food preparation categories

· A culinary degree, chef qualification, food science degree, or home economics qualification

· Experience in product development, product validation,



or consumer product testing · Experience with recipe writing, recipe validation, or food content development

· Experience benchmarking competitor products and interpreting performance differences

· Food safety certification or equivalent training
