Alternative

Finance sits within the Strategic Transactions and Operations team. It is focused on delivering equity and equity-like investments across various sectors via the National Interest Account as well as via EFA’s commercial account. We have a substantial, diversified portfolio of equity investments that is expected to continue to grow over the coming years.

Due to this significant growth and increasing portfolio of equity investments we are seeking an experienced Director, Asset Management to join the team and set up the function. The Director, Asset Management will play a critical role in protecting and enhancing the value of EFA's equity investment portfolio through active asset management, strategic oversight and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with investee companies, co-investors, internal and external stakeholders, the role provides insight-driven investment stewardship, identifies emerging risks and opportunities, and supports informed decision-making by EFA executives, the Board and government stakeholders.

The position combines rigorous financial analysis, commercial judgement and relationship management to help deliver EFA's strategic and investment objectives. THE ROLE Lead the day-to-day asset management of a portfolio of equity investments across a range of sectors, with a focus on preserving and enhancing value over the investment lifecycle, while achieving government and EFA strategic and policy objectives.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with investee company management teams, boards, co-investors, fund managers and other key external stakeholders.





Review periodic financial, operational and strategic reporting from investee companies and identify key performance trends, risks, opportunities and emerging issues.

Undertake detailed financial analysis, portfolio monitoring and valuation support activities to inform investment oversight and decision-making.

Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for EFA Executive, Board committees, internal governance forums and external government stakeholders.

Monitor compliance with investment agreements, shareholder arrangements, governance obligations and reporting requirements.

Support governance activities including shareholder approvals, board observer arrangements, information rights and investment monitoring processes.

Identify and escalate material investment, commercial, operational, governance and reputational risks as appropriate.

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of EFA's equity portfolio management framework, processes and reporting capabilities.

Support strategic initiatives relating to portfolio optimisation, exits, follow-on investments and broader Alternative Finance activities as required.

Support the execution of new investments and follow-on transactions, including due diligence, financial analysis, transaction structuring, stakeholder engagement and preparation of investment materials, while balancing portfolio management responsibilities and contributing to the successful delivery of Alternative Finance team objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS At least 7+ years’ experience in equity asset manament, private equity, infrastructure investing, funds management, principal investing or a similar workplace.

Experience managing, monitoring or evaluating unlisted equity investments.

Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis skills.

Experience presenting complex investment insights to senior executives, investment committees or boards.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong collaboratove approach and ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

Degree qualified in Finance or related discipline. Further qualifications such as CFA are welcomed.
