Your Role: As a Disability Support Worker you will provide individualised support for young people and adults 24 hours day in within a supported home model. No two days are the same. One day you might be assisting clients with general household duties, meal preparation or personal care needs.
The next,
you may be providing support to participants based on their individual care plans which could include social activities, transport and mobility or attendance at appointments. All the while liaising with participants families, therapists or case managers and following a clinically guided support plan that offers choice and participation within their community helping them achieve their goals.
The successful applicant will have:
- Qualifications in Residential Care, a Certificate IV in Community Services, Welfare or other related areas. (You may be currently undertaking and/or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment).
- Understanding of or experience in implementing therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies.
- A positive attitude to engaging with people living with disability in a nurturing environment under a therapeutic model.
- Initiative and drive to work independently and as part of a team.
- Contribute to the effective operation of the team by supporting colleagues through clear and effective communication, sharing of appropriate and relevant information and working cooperatively with others.
- Willingness to work a versatile roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
- A Working with Children check, NDIS Worker check and First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain
- Willingness to undergo a National Criminal History check
