Residential Draftsperson — Sales Sketches - Up to $80k + Superannuation (based on experience)

About the role

Wow Homes is looking for an On-Site Residential Draftsperson to join our Subiaco team, working hand-in-hand with our Sales team to turn client concepts into buildable, compliant sales sketches.

This is a fast-paced, front-end drafting role and a highly collaborative one. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you'll work from rough concepts, site plans and client briefs supplied by the sales team and produce clear, accurate sketches — everything from straightforward variations on our existing designs through to fully custom one-off homes.

Every sketch needs to stack up against the R-Codes and the relevant developer guidelines before it goes back to the client, so a strong eye for compliance is just as important as your drafting speed.

Just as importantly, when something doesn't comply, you'll sit with the sales consultant, talk through the options and put forward alternatives that keep the client's brief intact.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing fully completed sales sketches from concepts supplied by the sales team — floor plans, site plans and front, side and rear elevations

- Producing design variations on existing home designs, as well as custom one-off drawings

- Drawing changes and variations to previously drawn plans as client briefs evolve

- Writing up variation details against a base floorplan, clearly documenting the changes made so Sales and the client can see exactly what's been amended

- Compliance checking all sketches against the R-Codes and applicable developer design guidelines

- Interpreting site conditions, survey information, easements, setbacks and lot restrictions

- Working side by side with sales consultants to refine designs against client budgets and briefs, often with short turnaround times

- Flagging non-compliance early and presenting workable alternatives,



rather than simply handing the problem back

- Liaising with developers and local government authorities from time to time on design guideline and approval queries

- Maintaining accurate drawing records and version control

What you'll bring

- 2–3 years' drafting experience in Perth's residential construction sector

- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD)

- A relevant qualification in building design or architectural drafting

- Working knowledge of the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes) and estate/developer design guidelines

- Confidence drafting elevations as well as plans
- The ability to read and interpret feature surveys, contour plans and site information

- Strong attention to detail and a genuine focus on compliance
- A solutions-focused approach — comfortable presenting design options and talking them through with non-technical colleagues and clients

- Clear written communication for documenting variations

- Clear communication skills and the confidence to work directly with a sales team
- The ability to juggle multiple sketches at once and hit deadlines without dropping quality

Nice to have

- Exposure to volume or semi-custom residential builders

- Experience with sloping sites, battle-axe lots or infill development

- Familiarity with NCC/BCA residential requirements and Perth-specific council processes
