A Drainer is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing below-ground drainage systems, including stormwater, sewerage, and effluent disposal systems for residential, commercial, civil, and industrial projects. The role involves interpreting plans and specifications, excavating and preparing sites, laying pipes and associated infrastructure, and ensuring all drainage works comply with Australian standards, local regulations, and workplace health and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain underground drainage, sewer, stormwater, and effluent disposal systems.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Excavate trenches and prepare sites for drainage installation.
- Lay, join,
and test drainage pipes and related components.
- Identify and rectify drainage faults, blockages, and leaks.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Operate and maintain tools, plant, and equipment used in drainage works.
- Work collaboratively with plumbers, civil construction teams, builders, and other trades.
- Maintain a protected work environment and adhere to workplace health and safety procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Sound knowledge of drainage systems, pipe installation techniques, and underground services.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Good physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor environments.
- Understanding of workplace safety and environmental compliance requirements.
Qualifications and Licensing
- Certificate III in Drainage or equivalent • Minimum 3 years of work experience
- Registration and/or licensing as required by the applicable Australian state or territory regulations.
- White Card (Construction Induction Card) and other site-specific certifications may be required. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe and effective collection, transportation, and disposal of wastewater and stormwater within the community.
Salary : $79,000-$81,000 Per annum + Superannuation
