Role Details

Blackfriars is seeking passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our Early Learning Centre on a fixed-term contract commencing Mid-Term 3, 2026 and concluding at the end of Term 4, 2026.

Early Childhood Teacher – Part time

FTE: 0.4

Workdays: Mondays and Tuesdays The successful candidate will be work collaboratively with the ELC Coordinator to develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning programs that support the needs of young children within a positive, supportive and well-managed learning environment.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidates will be expected to:

- Plan and implement a comprehensive learning program influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach and the Early Years Learning Framework.

- Respond to students’ varying intellectual, emotional and physical abilities in teaching practice.

- Identify individual learning needs and styles, and plan learning experiences that enable all children to achieve success.

- Establish positive and effective relationships with children, parents/caregivers, colleagues and the broader school community.

- Create and maintain an attractive, welcoming, safe, orderly and task-oriented learning environment.

- Manage children's behaviour effectively and consistently within relevant school and SACCS policy directions.





- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of children's progress and achievement.

- Use a range of assessment and reporting methods to monitor learning and provide meaningful feedback to children and families.

- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including record keeping.

- Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher interviews, professional learning and other relevant school activies.

- Undertake supervision duties diligently and appropriately assist children who are hurt, sick or in distress.

- Demonstrate a commitment to the Catholic and Dominican charism and ethos of the School.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Early Childhood Teacher who:

- Holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent appropriate early childhood teaching qualification.

- Has demonstrated experience and proven ability in Early Childhood Education.

- Has sound principles in child behaviour and learning area management.

- Has effective interpersonal and communication skills.

- Is familiar with the principles associated with the Reggio Emilia approach to education.

- Can work collaboratively with staff members and parents/caregivers.

- Demonstrates competence in Information Technology.





- Demonstrates the ability and confidence to undertake and sustain the inherent requirements of the position.

- Is committed to Catholic Education and willing to contribute to the spiritual and community life of the School.

Essential Requirements The successful candidate will be required to acquire and maintain:

- Current Teacher Registration in South Australia.

- Current Working With Children Check.

- Responding to Abuse and Neglect/RRHAN-EC accreditation.

- First Aid accreditation.

- Timely completion of online WHS, code of conduct and child protection modules as requested.
