Fitzroy

Et Al is a fresh law firm incorporating Atticus Lawyers and Sinclair May. Merging two busy practices has (surprise!) led to an even busier practice, so we're on the lookout for another smart, savvy and friendly employment lawyer to join us.

About us.

Alex is a commercial lawyer and litigator, Allie is a commercial and employment lawyer, and Arnavi is our law clerk.

Our clients are businesses who value transparent, strategic advice and assistance – they don’t come to us for pontification, multi-page letters of advice or ‘it depends’. They come for clarity, direction and practical help.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do take our work seriously, and we respect that our clients do too.

We work from our bricks and mortar office in Fitzroy – mainly because we enjoy each other’s company and actually like Going To Work. We'd like if you joined us, at least some of the time.

About the role.

This is a part time role which can be based entirely in our Brunswick Street office, or partly in office, partly from home. There is definitely scope to increase the days over time, and we are willing to work things out for the right person.

We have a lot on across the board, but our employment practice in particular is exploding,

and we need an experienced employment lawyer who can step in and start advising clients from day one. All of our clients are businesses, so the role involves acting for employers only - we don't do employee-side work.

About you.

For us, the right person is more important than their PQE, but we do need somebody who has enough experience and commercial nous to confidently advise on and run matters largely on their own. If you have broader commercial and litigation experience, that's a bonus, but it's not a deal breaker.

You must be sensible, friendly and switched on, with excellent communication skills. We know lawyers are book smart, but employment law is very human, so we need EQ and some kind of personality too.

You should have at least 3 years PQE – but you may have many, many more than that.

You might be looking for part time work and flexibility, perhaps around children, or you might be returning from a period of leave. You might just want a change, a flatter structure, and the space to do interesting work without the layers of a large firm.

If your name is also Alexandra, you are encouraged to apply. Even more so if you go by something other than Allie or Alex – just to keep the theme going, but to reduce email address confusion.
