Fosterville Gold Mine (FGM) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Environment Technician to join our Environment and Community team on a casual basis. This is an identified position for a Djaara person, created to provide meaningful employment, training, and career development opportunities within the environmental field.
Working alongside experienced environmental professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in environmental monitoring, rehabilitation, data collection, and field-based environmental activities that contribute to responsible site operations and environmental stewardship.
Please note: This is an environmental support role and does not include responsibilities for representing Djaara Traditional Knowledge, cultural heritage decisions, or DJAARA governance matters.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Environment and Community Advisor, you will support the day-to-day environmental monitoring and related field activities across the Fosterville site.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is interested in developing practical skills in environmental monitoring and land-based work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with routine environmental monitoring programs, including water, dust, noise, vegetation, and soil monitoring.
- Supporting sample collection, handling, and recording activities.
- Maintaining environmental monitoring records, databases, and field documentation.
- Participating in environmental inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
- Assisting with rehabilitation programs and environmental improvement projects.
- Supporting incident investigations and follow-up actions when required.
- Contributing to a safe, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
- Providing assistance with other environmental and community-related activities as requested.
This is a casual position.
It is anticipated you will work between 8 - 16 hours per week.
About You
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, reliable, and enjoys practical hands-on work.
To be successful, you will have:
- A demonstrated interest in environmental, land management, natural resource, sustainability or Country-based work.
- Experience working outdoors, in operational environments, community-based projects, or other practical roles.
- Knowledge of Djandak and the local community context is preferrable
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow procedures and work instructions.
- A valid manual driver's licence.
Previous environmental experience is not essential. We encourage applications from people who are interested in environmental work, land-based activities, and developing practical skills in the environmental sector.

Physical Requirements The role involves a combination of field and office-based work and includes:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Walking across site and undertaking environmental inspections.
- Lifting and carrying equipment of up to 10kg.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs.
- Occasional independent or remote field work.
This is an identified position for a Djaara person. Applicants may be required to provide evidence of Djaara identity and eligibility during the recruitment process.
