Due to the upcoming retirement of a long-standing and valued team member, Woods Constructional Engineers is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our Dry Creek team.
With over 65 years in the industry, we are a well-established and respected structural steel and metalwork contractor, delivering projects to a loyal client base across domestic and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and scope documents to accurately measure and quantify materials.
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for projects ranging from $1K to $1M.
- Apply practical knowledge of fabrication times, erection methods, cranes, access equipment, and site labour to produce realistic costings.
- Prepare clear and professional quotes aligned with client requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience estimating within the structural steel industry (domestic and commercial projects).
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site operations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Robust communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid numerical, analytical, and computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
