Flexible work arrangements available Glen Innes Severn Council is looking for an experienced Executive Assistant to support our General Manager and Mayor. Working directly with Council's leadership team, you'll coordinate meetings, manage priorities, prepare documentation and help ensure important decisions, projects and community initiatives stay on track. This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing order to competing priorities and can confidently work with senior leaders, Councillors, staff and members of the community.
What the role looks like You'll be the person making sure the details don't get missed. That could mean coordinating a week of meetings for the General Manager, preparing a briefing for the Mayor ahead of a public event, compiling business papers for a Council meeting, or following up actions that need to be completed before the next agenda goes out. You'll also be responsible for:
Managing calendars, meeting requests and travel arrangements
Preparing correspondence, reports, briefing notes and presentations
Supporting Council and committee meetings, including agendas, minutes and action tracking
Maintaining accurate records and confidential documentation
Assisting with civic events such as Australia Day celebrations and Citizenship Ceremonies
Researching and assembling information to support decision-making
Responding to enquiries from Councillors, staff and community members The work is diverse, often deadline-driven, and requires someone who can switch between tasks without losing attention to detail. About you
You'll likely have experience supporting executives, senior managers,
elected officials or leadership teams.
You know how to manage competing priorities, communicate professionally with a wide range of people, and produce documentation that's accurate, clear and ready to go. We're looking for someone with:
Qualifications in Business Administration or equivalent experience
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
Excellent written communication and document preparation skills
Sound judgement when handling confidential information
Advanced Microsoft Office skills The ability to interpret policies, procedures and legislative requirements Experience in local government will be highly regarded, particularly knowledge of governance processes, Council meetings and systems such as Civica Altitude, ECM (DataWorks) or InfoCouncil.
