Company Description Movement Matters Therapy is an allied health practice based in Alice Springs (Mparntwe), providing Exercise Physiology, Paediatric Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy and Allied Health Assistant services across Central Australia. The team supports people across the lifespan, including individuals living with disability, developmental delay, chronic health conditions, injury recovery, chronic pain and complex needs. The practice is committed to improving access to high-quality, person-centred and trauma-informed allied health care for rural and remote communities, grounded in culture, community and connection.
Clinicians work closely with clients, families, support coordinators, GPs and community organisations to deliver practical, respectful and tailored therapy.
Movement Matters
Therapy partners with people funded through NDIS, WorkCover, Medicare, DVA and private sources, and offers clinicians the chance to build a meaningful career in community-based rural health.
Role Description The Exercise Physiologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Alice Springs, Australia, working with clients across Central Australia. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing evidence-based exercise programs, and delivering individual and group interventions for people with disability, chronic conditions, injury, and complex needs. The role involves working in clinic, community, and outreach settings, including home visits and hydrotherapy, and collaborating with other allied health professionals, support coordinators,
and medical practitioners.
The Exercise
Physiologist is expected to document clinical notes, prepare reports, contribute to care plans and case discussions, and support clients accessing services through NDIS, WorkCover, Medicare, DVA and private funding. Ongoing professional development, participation in team meetings, and engagement with culturally safe and trauma-informed practice are core parts of the role.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology and accreditation (or eligibility for accreditation) with ESSA or a comparable professional body.
Demonstrated skills in assessment and delivery of exercise-based interventions for chronic conditions, disability, injury rehabilitation and functional capacity building.
Ability to provide person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe care, with strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse communities.
Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders, including families, GPs, support coordinators and community organizations.
Strong documentation, report-writing and time-management skills, including effective case load organisation and use of clinical practice software.
Willingness to work in rural and remote settings, including outreach travel, and to engage in continuous learning and reflective practice.
Current driver’s licence, working rights in Australia, and relevant checks (e.g., Working With Children Check, National Police Check) or ability to obtain them.
