About the role

GenFab Engineering is seeking an Experienced Aluminium Welder / Fabricator to join our team in Caloundra West, QLD. This is a full time position (6am to 2pm with occasional overtime) that plays a vital role in our operations, delivering high-quality fabrication and welding services to our clients. As an experienced professional in this field, you will be responsible for executing precision welding and fabrication work on aluminium screens, balustrades and components.

Key responsibilities

1. Perform skilled aluminium welding using various techniques including TIG and MIG welding processes
2. Fabricate and assemble aluminium components and structures according to engineering drawings, and specifications
3. Inspect and check work to ensure quality standards and fit for purpose requirements
4. Prepare materials and workpieces for welding and powder coating, including cutting, grinding and positioning
5. Maintain welding equipment and machinery, performing routine maintenance and reporting any defects or issues
6. Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines and production targets
7. Follow all workplace safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment
8. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as an aluminium welder and fabricator, with a minimum of 3-5 years in the trade
2. Demonstrated proficiency in TIG and MIG welding processes on aluminium materials
3. Strong understanding of welding symbols, engineering drawings and technical specifications
4. Knowledge of fabrication techniques and the ability to work with various aluminium alloys
5. A current or recognised welding certification or relevant trade qualification
6.



Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
7. Physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced workshop environment
8. Strong safety awareness and adherence to workplace safety standards
9. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
10. Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot welding and fabrication challenges
11. Experience with precision measurement tools and quality control processes is highly desirable.
