External field technician – Gas Detection & Instrumentation

For over 49 years, Control Equipment has been a benchmark in gas detection and process instrumentation. Based out of our Brendale facility, we provide top-tier supply, installation, service, and calibration for clients across a wide range of critical industries.

We are looking for a practical, initiative-taking External Service Technician to join our team. In addition to firsthand field and lab work, this role offers the opportunity to help coordinate daily service operations, support peer workflow, and maintain the high standard of service our clients expect.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Field & Site Operations: Perform on-site repairs, routine calibrations, commissioning, and system installations across client locations.

- Service Workflow Support: Assist with the day-to-day coordination of service requests, job scheduling, and prioritising site visits alongside the wider service team.

- Lab & Technical Collaboration: Support in-house lab operations, including bench calibrations and QA tasks, while collaborating with team members on complex fault-finding.

- Client & Service Support: Complete accurate service reports, process job paperwork, assist with technical quotes, and maintain strong client relationships.

- Travel: Occasional interstate (and rare overseas) travel for specialised client service work.

What We’re Looking For





- Technical Background: Experience in gas detection, process instrumentation, electrical/electronics, or a closely related technical field.

- Organised & Collaborative: Strong organisational skills with a natural ability to coordinate schedules, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively alongside existing senior technicians and team members.

- Problem Solver: Sharp diagnostic skills with a practical, firsthand approach to hardware and calibration.

- Customer-Centric: Qualified communication style with a strong commitment to delivering quality outcomes for site stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements:

- Current Queensland Open Driver Licence.

- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency (currently residing in Australia).

- Ability to obtain site access clearances and complete required inductions.

- Flexibility for occasional after-hours/night work or travel as required.

- Previous experience in gas detection or process instrumentation is highly regarded.
