About the role

Sunstate Civil Construction is seeking a skilled and experienced Final Trim Excavator and Earthmoving Plant Operator to join our energetic team on a full-time basis. Based in Logan Reserve, QLD 4133, this role is pivotal to our operations of road upgrade projects, ensuring precise earthmoving work and site preparation to the highest standards. You will operate sophisticated machinery to complete final trim operations on construction projects, requiring precision, attention to detail, and technical expertise.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to significant construction projects whilst working with modern equipment and a professional team.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate excavators and earthmoving plant with precision to execute final trim operations on construction sites

2. Proven experience on roadworks projects

3. Conduct pre-shift safety inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on all assigned machinery

4. Follow site-specific instructions and engineering requirements to achieve accurate grading and finishing standards

5. Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers and other team members to ensure project specifications are met

6. Maintain accurate records of plant operation, hours worked and any machinery defects or issues

7. Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols

8. Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe working conditions to site management immediately

9. Assist with site cleanup and equipment repositioning as required

10. Support other team members and contribute to a collaborative and safe working environment

What we're looking for

1.



Current Heavy Equipment Operator License or equivalent certification recognised in Queensland

2. Minimum 5 years' experience operating excavators and earthmoving plant on construction sites

3. Demonstrated expertise in final trim operations and precision grading work

4. Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and WorkSafe procedures

5. Valid White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one

6. Ability to read and interpret site plans, engineering drawings and specifications

7. Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination

8. Proven track record of operating plant efficiently whilst maintaining high safety standards

9. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

10. Reliability and punctuality with a positive attitude towards work

11. Experience with GPS-guided grading systems or similar technology is advantageous

12. Working knowledge of different soil types and ground conditions is preferred
