Financial Controller Sydney

- Hybrid · $120,000 – $130,000 super performance bonus

Most finance jobs are about closing the books. This one is about building the machine that closes them.

Iridiam is a BPaaS company. Business Process as a Service — we don't sell hours and we don't sell advice. We run a client's entire finance function as a live service, on a fixed monthly fee, on our systems and our tech. Our clients are founder-led Australian businesses turning over $5M to $40M: builders, contractors, property groups. They don't have a CFO. They have us.

We're small, we're moving fast, and we're aiming to double revenue this year and double it again next year.

We're hiring our first Financial Controller.

AI IS THE JOB, NOT A PERK

We're rebuilding how a finance function actually gets delivered. Agents that pull, check and reconcile. Automations that take out work people currently do by hand. Reporting that writes its own first draft. We're already doing this. We want someone who will take it much further.

If you're a controller who has been quietly automating your own job on weekends, this is the role where that becomes the job.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

- The technical standard across every client file — and the authority to hold anything that doesn't meet it. You sign off before a client sees it.

- The accounts leads. They come to you when they hit something new. You set the bar and you train to it.

- Client relationships at finance leadership level. Sitting with owners, telling them what their numbers mean and what to do about it.

- The AI layer. Production tools against real client work, not a side project.

- A seat in recent business conversations, where a senior finance voice changes the outcome.

You'll work alongside a delivery team across Australia and Sri Lanka.



You'll sit on the senior management team. You'll report to the founder.

THIS IS A STEP UP, AND THAT'S THE POINT

We would rather have someone growing into this seat than someone who has held it for ten years somewhere else. If you're the number two in a finance team, or a senior accountant already doing controller work without the title, or you're coming out of practice and you want the commercial seat — you're who we're looking for. We care about where you're heading, not what your last title said.

YOU

- CA or CPA qualified.

- Already using AI properly, and able to prove it. This is what we care most about.

- Commercially minded — you can talk to a business owner about their business, not just their ledger.

- Comfortable not knowing. Plenty of what we do next, nobody here has done before.

- You own outcomes, not tasks.

NICE TO HAVE

- Construction, trades or property — progress claims, retentions, job costing.

- Xero at depth, and the add-on ecosystem around it.

- Job costing or project accounting systems — tell us which ones you've used and what you did with them.

- Multiple entities, consolidations and intercompany.

- Building things without writing code — tell us what you've shipped and what you built it with.

- Registered BAS agent or registered tax agent with the Tax Practitioners Board, or a public practice certificate

THE DEAL

Two days a week working side by side with the founder. Real travel — clients throughout Australia, and getting out to see them is one of the better parts of this job. A seat at the table while this gets built, not after.

This isn't a big firm, and it won't feel like one.
