Hays Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a well-established Tasmanian manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Fitter & Turner / Maintenance Technician. Operating within a fast-paced production environment, this organisation is recognised for its commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Your new role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment across the site. Working closely with production and maintenance teams, you will undertake preventative and breakdown maintenance, support tooling and mould servicing and assist in maintaining productive production operations.
Key responsibilities will include
- Conducting mechanical maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment
- Diagnosing and resolving machinery breakdowns
- Servicing and maintaining production machinery, tooling and moulds
- Fabricating and machining replacement components as required
- Assisting with machine changeovers and die-setting activities
- Maintaining workshop equipment, consumables and spare parts inventories
- Recording maintenance activities within the maintenance management system
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety, quality and HACCP requirements.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualifications as a Fitter & Turner or Mechanical Tradesperson
- Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
- Strong fault-finding and mechanical repair capabilities
- Welding, fabrication and machining skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Experience with preventative maintenance programmes would be highly regarded.
