Our client, a well-established food manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter with strong thermoforming experience to join their maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a market-leading manufacturer, maintaining high-speed automated production equipment in a modern food manufacturing environment. Career progression into a Maintenance Supervisor or leadership role is available for the right candidate.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of thermoforming and packaging equipment through preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in minimizing downtime and supporting efficient production operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative, reactive, and corrective maintenance on thermoforming and food processing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults.
- Maintain, service, and troubleshoot thermoforming machines, automated packaging equipment, conveyors, and associated production machinery.




- Support planned shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
- Complete maintenance documentation using a CMMS and ensure accurate reporting.
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, and workplace health and safety standards.

About You

- Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter (Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience maintaining thermoforming machines within a food manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging workplace.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and automated production systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a maintenance team.
- Previous experience in a lead hand or supervisory capacity will be highly regarded but is not essential.
