Role Description The GCP Programmer role is a full time, hybrid position based in Sydney, NSW, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining back-end services and applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, maintainable code, integrating APIs and cloud services, troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as architects, testers, and product managers.
The GCP Programmer will also participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and support deployments and monitoring in a cloud-native environment.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or C#).
Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and database integration.
Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub) and infrastructure-as-code tools is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Ability to analyze requirements, solve complex technical problems, and collaborate effectively in hybrid work settings.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Good communication skills and a commitment to writing secure, reliable, and well-documented code.
