Plate & Steel Industries is an Australian‑owned steel processing business with a growing workload. We are seeking a reliable and detail‑focused Despatch Hand to join our day shift team at our Braeside facility.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in delivering a quality product to customers and enjoys working as part of a busy team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Full‑time, permanent day shift position
- Reporting to the Operations Manager
- Working closely with the Despatch Team Leader
- Packing and preparing steel parts ready for shipment
- Operating plate cleaning and finishing equipment
- Forklift operation and general despatch duties
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pack, protect, and prepare steel parts to customer requirements
- Operate plate cleaning equipment to ensure product quality
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift
- Identify, label, and stage orders accurately for dispatch
- Coordinate daily priorities with the Despatch Team Leader
- Ensure correct quantities, documentation, and presentation of goods
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area
- Follow all WHS policies and procedures
ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience in despatch, warehousing, or manufacturing (preferred)
- Current forklift licence (required)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Takes pride in delivering a quality product
- Comfortable handling steel products and manual work
- Able to work effectively within a team workplace
- Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused
- Willing to undergo drug & alcohol screening
- Able to pass a police check
- Full working rights in Australia
