About the position The General Manager is one of four senior roles reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and leads the corporate services, financial, contractual and operational systems that support ARM Hub’s strategic, commercial and business development priorities.
The General Manager provides authoritative advice to the CEO and Board on operational and financial performance, compliance, risk and internal controls, and inspires a high-performance culture through collaborative leadership.
ARM Hub is a small, high-performing organisation where executive roles combine leadership, judgement and hands-on delivery. The General Manager will lead the corporate services function, supervise the Finance and Contracts Officer and manage key outsourced providers while also being comfortable directly undertaking priority operational, financial, contractual and governance tasks as required.
Key responsibilities include:
Finance and commercial
- Oversee ARM Hub’s financial management, planning, controls and reporting. Including budgets, cash flow, internal management reporting, quarterly Board reporting and the end-of-year audit process, including audits associated with major grant programs
- Provide commercial and financial insight to support ARM Hub’s growth ambitions, including pricing, costing and sustainability of competitive service offerings across data, AI and robotics programs
Governance, risk and compliance
- Assess and manage the principal risks of the ARM Hub's business, ensuring risks are identified, mitigated and compliant with all relevant legislation
- Maintain and review organisational policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety and environmental compliance, and chair the Workplace Health and Safety Committee
People and culture
- Lead the human resources function, including recruitment, selection, performance matters and oversight of the professional development program
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned to the ARM Hub's values and strategic direction
Information technology
- Maintain the ISO27001 information security framework, including policy maintenance, monthly reporting and the treatment of exceptions and recommendations
- Manage the outsourced IT provider for Level 1 support and hardware procurement
Legal and business affairs
- Manage contracts, assets, intellectual property and facilities in accordance with best-practice commercial principles, engaging third-party legal specialists on high-level matters, ensuring contract management processes enable timely and effective delivery of business development priorities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, partners, suppliers, contractors and government stakeholders
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance or a similar discipline
2. Demonstrated expertise in high-level operational and financial management, including budgeting, Board reporting and audit
3. Demonstrated experience managing risk, governance and compliance obligations, including workplace health and safety
4. Familiarity with information security management systems (ISO27001) and oversight of outsourced IT services
5. Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management capability, including experience managing contracts, commercial agreements and business affairs to support business development priorities, with the ability to work with a considerable degree of autonomy
6.
Proven leadership and organisational skills that contribute to a high-performance culture, including experience leading teams through organisational change
Highly desirable
1. CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) with at least 5 years management experience
2. Experience within a not-for-profit, research or grant-funded environment, including knowledge of grant funding administration
3. Experience contributing to organisational growth in a technology-led environment, including developing competitive service offerings in fields such as data, AI and robotics
Remuneration and benefits The remuneration for this position has an annual remuneration range commensurate with experience. You will additionally receive 12% superannuation.
Type of appointment
This appointment will be offered on a fixed-term, full-time basis.
Location The role is located at the ARM Hub facility at Northgate, Brisbane.
