Your new role An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Governance Support Officer to join the team on a temporary part-time basis (38 hours per fortnight), with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate. This wide-ranging role supports Council and Committee operations, ensuring governance processes are delivered efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities include: Preparing Council and Committee agendas and related documentation. Recording and preparing accurate minutes for Council and Committee meetings.
Distributing minutes in line with legislative requirements, policies, and best practice principles. Coordinating the Resolutions of Council Register and preparing quarterly governance reports. Liaising with internal stakeholders to gather updates and ensure governance records remain current.
Providing administrative support for Council meetings, including coordinating meeting logistics and catering.
This position requires availability on certain days to support Council meetings, with flexibility around other working days. What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within Local Government, ideally in governance, executive support, or administration. Strong minute-taking and agenda preparation experience. Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
An understanding of the Local Government Act and governance processes will be highly regarded. The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines. A proactive approach and willingness to support a broad range of administrative and governance activities.
