Metromotion Controls
Mount Waverley
If you are the kind of person who enjoys building things, understanding how systems work, writing code or experimenting with electronics, you may feel at home in this role.
Metromotion Controls is looking for graduate engineers who want to build a solid career in industrial automation and gain experience across the full project lifecycle.
Our work brings software and physical systems together. You will help develop code and control systems that operate machinery, production lines, motors, sensors and manufacturing processes.
You will be able to see the result of your work operating in the real world, not only on a screen.
What you will work on
Depending on the project, you may be involved in:
- PLC, SCADA and HMI programming
- Developing machine sequences and control logic
- Connecting software with sensors, motors, instruments and production equipment
- Electrical and control system design
- Industrial communications and networking
- Testing systems before they are installed
- Commissioning equipment in operating factories
- Troubleshooting and improving existing systems
You will gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, including site investigation, design, programming, testing, commissioning and support.
Rather than being limited to one narrow area, you will have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of how complete automation projects come together.
The type of person who may enjoy this role
This role may suit you if you:
- Are confident with computers and enjoy programming
- Like logical problem solving and understanding how systems behave
- Are interested in both the software and physical sides of engineering
- Enjoy learning new software, tools and technologies
- Have worked on technical projects through university or in your own time
- Are curious, motivated and willing to contribute ideas
- Want to gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop
Personal projects are something we value.
You may have worked on robotics, electronics, rocketry, drones, embedded systems, home automation, vehicles, software applications or something completely different.
The project does not need to be polished or successful. We are interested in what you were trying to achieve, what you learned and how you approached the problems along the way.
Graduates from mechatronics, electrical, electronics, software, computer systems and related engineering disciplines may be well suited to the role.
What you can expect
You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on real projects for Australian manufacturers.
You will receive guidance and support as you learn, while also being given meaningful work and the opportunity to contribute early.
Metromotion Controls is a merit-based company. As your capability and confidence grow, there will be opportunities to take ownership of larger parts of projects and progress into senior technical, project management or leadership roles.
We want graduates to build a broad base of experience, find the areas they are strongest in and develop at a pace that reflects their contribution.
