Mercy College is seeking an inspiring and collaborative Head of Learning Area (Health & Physical Education) to lead our dynamic HPE team, encompassing Health, Physical Education, Outdoor Education and Soccer. This middle leadership position provides an exciting prospect to drive teaching excellence, support staff growth and foster outstanding student outcomes while contributing to the College's Catholic mission, Vision for Learning and commitment to "Love in Action"—bringing faith, compassion and service to life through education and community.

About the Job

- Lead the HPE Learning Area, including Outdoor Education and Soccer.
- Drive teaching excellence through learning walks, peer observation and evidence-based practice.
- Mentor, support and develop staff to achieve high standards of teaching and learning.
- Oversee curriculum, assessment, reporting and quality assurance processes across Years 7–12.
- Manage Learning Area resources, budget, staffing and strategic initiatives.
- Promote student wellbeing, restorative practices and positive parent partnerships.

About You

- An experienced educator with leadership experience in HPE.
- Passionate about coaching and developing teachers.




- Strong knowledge of SCSA curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements.
- Skilled in leading innovation, change and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
