Black Swan is Western Australia’s State theatre company. Resident at the State Theatre Centre of WA, our purpose is to create exceptional, high-quality theatre that speaks to the world from our unique WA culture, landscape and moment in time.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Philanthropy to lead and grow our philanthropy program, playing a critical role in supporting the artistic ambitions of the company.
You will be part of a passionate team dedicated to bringing impactful theatre experiences to our community and beyond. - Design and deliver a five-year strategy for the growth of philanthropy across annual giving, major gifts, bequests, trusts and foundations
- Build and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects through the full cultivation cycle, and personally secure significant contributions
- Lead organisation-wide fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, Giving Day and matched giving
- Ensure inspiring donor stewardship, high-quality engagement and impactful communications
This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, working closely with a small but highly capable and dedicated team.
About you

- Senior-level experience managing philanthropy programs, including securing major gifts
- A minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising, donor stewardship or major account management
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Confident use of CRM systems and sound budget management experience
- A collaborative approach and a genuine passion for the arts and the impact of live performance
Formal qualifications in fundraising, communications or arts management are essential. Knowledge of the WA arts development setting and experience with Tessitura CRM are highly regarded.
