About Multotec

Multotec is a privately owned engineering and manufacturing business supplying mineral processing solutions to the mining industry throughout Australia and globally through the broader Multotec Group.

With approximately 200 employees across multiple locations, we design, manufacture, supply and support equipment used in some of the world's largest mining operations.

We have grown significantly over the years, however our people management approach has remained intentionally practical and hands-on. We believe in supporting our people, developing capability, solving problems quickly and focusing on outcomes rather than bureaucracy.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to work closely with our Managing Director, Executive Team and operational leaders to strengthen our workforce capability and support the long-term success of the business.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional corporate HR role.

We are looking for a practical, commercially minded HR professional who enjoys working across all levels of a business—from factory operators and field service personnel through to managers and executives.

The successful candidate will become a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Executive Leadership Team, helping to strengthen leadership capability, improve workforce planning, support recruitment and retention initiatives, and provide practical HR guidance across the organisation.

Approximately 70% of the role will be hands-on operational HR and workforce support, with the remaining 30% focused on strategic workforce capability and organisational development.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director and works closely with the Executive Leadership Team, supporting business leaders across all functions. The position works alongside Finance, Operations, HSEQ and branch leadership teams to strengthen workforce capability, support business objectives and improve organisational effectiveness across the business.

The role will also work closely with existing HR and administration resources, ensuring effective delivery of HR administration, employment processes and workforce systems while allowing senior business leaders to focus on strategic and operational priorities.

Discretion, judgement and professionalism are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Leadership

- Lead the people and HR function across the business.

- Provide practical advice and support to managers on employee relations, performance management and workplace matters.
- Guide and support disciplinary, conduct and employee wellbeing matters.
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant, practical and aligned with business needs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Executive Leadership Team.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

- Lead recruitment and talent acquisition activities across the business.
- Work with managers to identify workforce requirements and future capability needs.
- Improve attraction, retention and succession planning outcomes.
- Develop practical workforce plans that support operational and growth objectives.

Leadership & Organisational Capability

- Support managers to build stronger, more capable teams.
- Coach leaders through people challenges and performance conversations.
- Help align organisational structures, roles and responsibilities to business goals.
- Identify capability gaps and develop practical solutions to strengthen workforce performance.

Learning & Development

- Help build a more structured and effective learning and development framework.
- Support leadership development, career pathways and succession planning initiatives.
- Work with managers to improve workforce capability and training outcomes.
- Drive greater value from existing training systems and resources.

Systems, Reporting & Administration

- Oversee the effectiveness of HR systems, processes and records management.
- Support and guide HR administration resources to ensure timely and accurate outcomes.
- Provide workforce reporting, insights and recommendations to management.
- Monitor workforce trends, retention risks and capability requirements.

About You

You are a hands-on HR professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and helping managers succeed.

You are comfortable moving between the factory floor, branch operations, field service teams and executive meetings.

You understand that HR exists to support the success of the business and its people—not the other way around.

Most importantly, you lead with humility, discretion and common sense.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in a senior HR Generalist,

HR Manager or similar leadership role.
- Robust knowledge of Australian employment legislation and HR practices.
- Experience supporting operational workforces within manufacturing, engineering, mining services, industrial services, logistics or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing recruitment and workforce planning activities.
- Strong employee relations and performance management capability.
- Experience coaching and supporting managers.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and discretion.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operating environment.

Desirable Experience

- Experience working within a multi-site organisation.
- Experience with Employment Hero or similar HR platforms.
- Exposure to workforce development, succession planning and learning programs.
- Experience supporting technical, operational or field-based workforces.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12–24 months you will have:

- Reduced dependency on key individuals for HR, recruitment and workforce management activities.
- Improved recruitment outcomes across critical roles.
- Strengthened leadership capability within management teams.
- Introduced practical workforce development initiatives.
- Improved succession planning and workforce visibility.
- Increased utilisation and effectiveness of training and development systems.
- Enhanced manager confidence when dealing with people-related matters.
- Built trusted relationships across all areas of the business.
- Delivered measurable improvements without creating unnecessary bureaucracy or layers of administration.

Our Culture

We are an owner-operated business built on accountability, practical thinking and a strong customer focus.

We value people who roll up their sleeves, solve problems and work collaboratively across all levels of the organisation. Titles matter less than outcomes, and some of the best ideas come from the people closest to the work.

Our leaders are expected to support one another, develop their teams and make decisions that benefit the business as a whole rather than individual departments.

This role is not about creating bureaucracy or building an HR empire. It is about supporting our leaders, developing our people and helping the business continue to grow in a sustainable and practical way.

Logo before ego isn't just a tagline at Multotec — it's part of how we work.

If you are a hands-on HR leader who enjoys building capability, strengthening teams and helping people succeed, we'd like to hear from you.
