About the role

- The Hygiene Operative is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with HACCP standards. The role involves washing and sanitizing dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment, as well as managing the tray wash area and ensuring all items are properly stored.
- The Hygiene Operative will also handle rubbish and recycling disposal, clean and maintain kitchen floors, walls, shelves, work benches, and equipment, and follow proper food hygiene and chemical handling procedures. The role requires strict adherence to health and safety practices, timely reporting of any issues or incidents, and the ability to carry out additional duties as directed by the Manager.

What you'll do

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Wash and clean utensils and dishes and make sure they are stored appropriately
- Manage the tray wash section
- Sort and dispose of rubbish and recycling
- Clean food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas in a hygienic manner to HACCP standards.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

- Clean and disinfect all dishes, cutlery, pots,



pans and equipment storage areas including sweeping and mopping
- Removal of all rubbish, cardboard boxes and vegetable scraps to designated rubbish area
- Cleaning of kitchen walls, shelves and work benches on a daily basis
- Maintain kitchen equipment so it is in good condition
- Follow proper hygienic food handling practices
- Ensure correct operating procedures are followed when using required chemicals
- Perform any other duties as directed by your Manager
- Comply with all people safety practices
- Reporting all issues or incidents in a timely manner

Qualification

- Minimum one year experience in a food manufacturing or production environment
- Understanding of work safety practices; operating cleaning equipment
- Flexible work style and enjoys variety
- Good communication skills
- Ability to take and follow instructions
- Dedicated with solid work ethic & ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to work under pressure with pace and energy & meet deadlines
- Self-driven & motivated
- Exceptional personal presentation & hygiene
