Eligibility: Open to Everyone Help shape the future of environmental geospatial information in South Australia The Department for Environment and Water is seeking an experienced and motivated Information Management Coordinator (Geospatial) to provide expert information management and geospatial advice across the Biodiversity Science, Coasts and Information Branch and the broader department.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the improved management, governance and use of South Australia’s environmental spatial data. In this role, you will assess, consolidate and coordinate lifecycle management planning for key spatial data assets, promote corporate geospatial capability, and help position the State for improved data governance, investment and planning across environmental adaptation, conservation, risk assessment and emergency management outcomes.
About the Role:
As the Information Management Coordinator (Geospatial), you will lead the assessment and coordination of enterprise onboarding for geospatial data assets and information products. This includes defining data transformation requirements and coordinating their implementation through relevant technical teams.
You will work closely with project stakeholders, partners, technical specialists and other areas of government to provide advice and support in relation to geospatial information management needs. The role is highly collaborative and will contribute to enterprise-aligned guidance on geospatial data standards, governance models, platform integration, lifecycle management and stewardship practices.
This is a coordination, advisory and delivery-focused role. You will bring together business needs, information management principles, geospatial expertise and technical implementation teams to help deliver spatial information products, complex GIS data advice and information workflow documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist geospatial and environmental data governance and information management advice to support departmental and partner needs.
- Coordinate the assessment, consolidation and lifecycle management planning of key spatial data assets.
- Lead the coordination of enterprise onboarding for geospatial data assets and information products.
- Define data transformation requirements and coordinate implementation through specialist GIS and data teams.
- Develop and promote enterprise-aligned guidance on geospatial data standards, governance models, platform integration, stewardship and data asset/product lifecycle management.
- Support the delivery of fit-for-purpose spatial information products, complex GIS data advice and information workflow documentation.
- Engage, liaise and negotiate with DEW project stakeholders, partners, other divisions, government agencies and key external stakeholders.
- Establish clear outcomes, responsibilities and accountabilities through the use of project management frameworks.
About You:

You will bring contemporary knowledge of geospatial, information management and data governance trends, technologies and practices, and be able to translate that knowledge into informed advice and best-practice approaches.
You will also be confident influencing and supporting stakeholders to adopt and use information management systems, tools and practices to achieve organisational outcomes. Experience leading projects or initiatives, and delivering outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement, planning and coordination, will be important to success in this role.
You will demonstrate a current and fundamental understanding of:
- Information management principles and information lifecycle management practices.
- Data governance, geospatial data standards, stewardship responsibilities and associated procedures.
- Textual and spatial databases, data management tools and data quality concepts.
- Enterprise geospatial platforms and ESRI GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, geoprocessing tools and configurable web applications.
- Mobile devices, GPS and associated field data capture software.
Desirable The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience designing and/or working in enterprise cloud-hosted geospatial environments.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in information management, spatial science or environmental management.
- Experience using scripting languages such as Python, R or similar to support data management, analysis and process automation.

Contract:
18 month contract

- Demonstrated experience leading projects and initiatives, delivering outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement, planning and coordination.
- Demonstrates a current and fundamental understanding of:

Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work.
- This role requires candidates to provide a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which must be renewed every three years before expiry. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.
A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Setting and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months. This information must be supplied by all applicants who are shortlisted for interview.
Remuneration:
ASO6, $105,747 min - $111,854 max p.a.
