About the role

Austruss Pty Ltd is seeking a Junior Estimator to join our growing team in Braemar, NSW. This is a full time position that offers an excellent opportunity to launch your career in construction estimating. As a Junior Estimator, you will play a vital role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, providing accurate cost analyses and supporting the estimation team in delivering competitive and profitable bids.

This role is instrumental in helping us secure new projects and maintain our reputation for excellence in the construction industry.

What you'll be doing

- Reviewing project plans, specifications and tender documents to identify scope requirements

- Preparing material, labour and equipment cost estimates for construction projects

- Gathering quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluating competitive pricing

- Assisting the senior estimator in the development of comprehensive bid/tender and submission proposals

- Learning to take quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings

- Maintaining accurate estimation databases and documentation for future reference

- Liaising with project managers, clients and suppliers to clarify project requirements and scope

- Conducting site visits when required to gather information and assess project conditions

- Supporting the estimation team with administrative tasks and data entry

- Contributing to continuous improvement in estimating processes and methodologies

What we're looking for

- A relevant qualification in construction, quantity surveying, estimating or related field, or equivalent industry experience in building

- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for cost calculations and data management

- Knowledge and interest in construction materials, methods and industry standards





- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

- Ability to manage/prioritise multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- A keen interest in the construction industry and a commitment to professional development

- Familiarity with estimating software or Building Information Modelling (BIM) would be advantageous

- Valid Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites
