About the role

We are seeking a Junior Urban Planner to join our dynamic team on a casual basis at our Caulfield, Victoria office, with the opportunity for full time permanent within the near future. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop practical experience in urban planning and design whilst working on diverse and meaningful projects. You will support senior planners in the delivery of planning strategies, design work, and project management activities.

This is a fantastic stepping stone for someone passionate about shaping sustainable urban environments and eager to grow their career in the planning sector.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting in the preparation of planning documents, including development proposals, planning reports, and strategic planning studies
- Conducting research and analysis on planning policies, regulations, and precedents to support project work
- Supporting the production of urban design concepts, masterplans,



and visualisations under guidance from senior team members
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and government agencies to gather information and progress projects
- Participating in site visits and surveys to understand project contexts and constraints
- Contributing to the preparation of presentations and documentation for client meetings and planning approvals
- Assisting with data collection, mapping, and analysis using GIS and other planning tools
- Supporting the coordination of project timelines and documentation
- Attending team meetings and professional development sessions to build planning knowledge

What we're looking for

- A qualification in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline (or currently enrolled in such a program)
- Strong knowledge of planning principles, urban design concepts, and the Victorian planning system
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs (desirable)
- Familiarity with GIS software or mapping tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work




- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills
- Enthusiasm for urban planning, sustainability, and creating quality built environments
- Experience with planning submissions, policy analysis, Clause 55 & Clause 52.37 is highly desirable
