Lead the future of perioperative services at Western Hospital
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Clinical Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the clinical and operational performance of our perioperative suite. In this key leadership role, you will drive operational efficiency, optimise theatre throughput, provide supportive leadership to a multidisciplinary team, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Lead the effective operation of the perioperative department by managing theatre schedules, workforce allocation, resource utilisation, and patient flow to optimise theatre productivity and service delivery.
Clinical Leadership
Provide leadership, mentorship, and clinical oversight to scrub/scout, anaesthetic, recovery, and procedure room nursing teams. Manage recruitment, rostering, performance development, and workforce planning while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
Clinical Governance, Quality & Safety
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards, sterilisation requirements, ACORN standards, NSQHS Standards, and accreditation requirements. Lead quality improvement initiatives and support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
Stakeholder Engagement & Service Development
Build and maintain effective relationships with surgeons, anaesthetists, visiting medical officers, industry representatives,
and the executive team to enhance perioperative services, improve patient outcomes, and support organisational objectives.
