About the team

Our Compliance team plays a pivotal role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of major construction projects across the municipality. We work collaboratively across Council, with industry and the community, to ensure development occurs responsibly while protecting public safety, Council assets and community amenity. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in some of the municipality's most significant private development projects and to help shape best-practice construction management outcomes.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Construction Liaison & Compliance Officer to join our team. In this role, you will lead Council's involvement in managing significant private construction projects from planning approval through to project completion. Acting as Council's primary relationship manager for major developments, you will coordinate stakeholders, oversee construction compliance matters, and ensure approved Construction Management Plans and related permit requirements are effectively implemented throughout the construction lifecycle.

What you’ll deliver

- Coordinate Council's involvement in major private construction projects and facilitate a whole-of-Council approach to construction management and compliance.
- Act as the primary relationship manager between Council, developers, builders, contractors, residents and other key stakeholders
- Investigate construction-related complaints, conduct inspections and ensure compliance with Construction Management Plans, Traffic Management Plans, permits and relevant legislation
- Prepare technical reports, compliance documentation and recommendations to support enforcement action and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring





- Demonstrated experience in building, compliance, regulatory services, local government, construction management or a related field.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to confidently work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly develop knowledge in, construction management processes, planning enforcement, relevant legislation and building methodologies.
- Relevant qualifications in construction, building surveying, planning, engineering, local government, compliance or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
