ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by Energy Co to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C;) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.
The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of current network capacity.
The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.
The Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Lead Safety Advisor to share their expertise within our growing Transmission Lines and Towers Team.
The Lead Safety Advisor is responsible for leading, implementing, and continuously proving all Health & Safety, programs for transmission line construction in CWO projects. The role ensures compliance with ACJV project procedures, Australian regulations and Contract requirements.
Assure Cobra company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture across all ACJV project activities.
The position provides strategic and operational leadership for safety management during Transmission Line construction, including Tree clearing, Access track, PAD execution, foundation works, tower erection, conductor stringing, access road construction, heavy lifting operations, energized line work, and subcontractor management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HSE management techniques and tools.
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
- Skills in data gathering, statistical and trend analysis.
- Conducting and interpreting audits and reviews.
- Lead document management processes including recording, monitoring, and archiving and producing routine written communications.
- Skills in identifying HSE improvements to systems, processes and/or products within a project.
- Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; use of basic functions of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement on performance, compliance, and defects and/or non-conformance.
- Training in basic risk activities and programs to small groups.
- Knowledge of Safety & Rehabilitation Management Systems and relevant IMS procedures.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and relevant IMS procedures. Knowledge of applicable standards especially AZ/NZS 4801:2001.
- Regularly reviews project HSE systems and plans against activity requirements.
- Track progress against role & responsibility profiles and report on activities to Site Safety Manager.
- Enter and extract data from incident management system.
- Ability to positively identify all potential and imminent hazards on a site and be able to act immediately to correct them.
- Actively participate in and drive a culture of collaboration, discipline, innovation, adaptability to change and care.
- Ensure safety and sustainability are always front of mind.
- Lead by example by promoting a positive work health and safety culture.

Required Skills and Competencies
- Electrical or Civil trades background preferred
- Substations, Transmission Lines and Towers construction experience with safety qualifications preferred
- Strong communicator with risk-based methodologies
- Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent,
- Cert IV in Environmental Management,
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management, or other associated disciplines.
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification.
- HSE Practitioner, 10+ years working on large scale construction projects, including substations and renewable energy projects and high-risk workplaces
Lead Safety Advisor role are bus in bus out of NSW, 14 days onsite in camp style accommodation and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region Project Please note: This position is being delivered as part of a joint venture between two organisations.
