This FIFO role offers the opportunity to lead a skilled mechanical maintenance team responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of fixed plant assets in a dynamic mining environment.

About the Role

As the Leading Hand – Fitter, you will lead and coordinate the Mechanical Maintenance team to ensure the safe, productive and timely execution of planned and breakdown maintenance activities across fixed plant assets. You will provide technical guidance, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure maintenance work is completed to the highest quality standards while supporting plant reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate daily mechanical maintenance activities across the fixed plant.

- Ensure work is planned and executed safely through effective task analysis and risk management.

- Perform and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repairs on fixed plant equipment, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and associated mechanical systems.

- Apply precision fitting techniques, including heating and cooling methods for bearings, seals and gears.

- Inspect, assess and document equipment condition, wear, damage and refurbishment requirements.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and maintenance documentation.





- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to quality standards.

- Support, coach and mentor apprentices and team members to build capability within the maintenance team.

- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to company standards.

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability and maintenance performance.

- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.

- Current manual Driver's Licence.

- Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance within mining or heavy industry.

- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising maintenance teams.

- Strong experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and associated plant equipment.

- Excellent mechanical fitting, fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.

- Strong leadership, communication and team coordination skills.

- Excellent problem-solving, planning and decision-making abilities.

- Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
