About the Job The Learning and Development Trainer and Assessor - Safeworking and/or Rail Network Control, is a key delivery role within the Learning and Organisational Development branch, supporting the capability, safety, and performance of operational employees and external contractors across the Public Transport Authority.

Reporting to the Training Delivery Lead, you will deliver accredited and non-accredited training programs, courses, and assessments aligned to organisational objectives, future workforce needs, and rail safety requirements. You will contribute to training needs analysis, review and enhance existing learning materials, and assist in the development of new programs to meet evolving operational and compliance standards.

A strong focus of the role is ensuring training delivery and assessment activities comply with PTA standards, Registered Training Organisation requirements, and relevant legislation. You will work collaboratively with the RTO Quality and Compliance team to ensure training meets industry and regulatory expectations, while applying adult learning principles to achieve high quality learner outcomes.

You will also support positive cultural change in Safeworking and competence by providing professional guidance in the training environment, mentoring new trainers, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. This role suits an experienced trainer who is confident delivering learning in operational contexts and values safety, consistency, and professional practice.

About You To excel in this role, you should possess:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent current qualification, or the ability to obtain the qualification within an agreed timeframe.

- Operational or technical experience, including knowledge of Safeworking rules applicable to Rail Safety activities or Rail Network Control.

- Certificate IV in Rail Network Control and/or relevant PTA safeworking competencies will be highly regarded.





- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build effective working relationships.

- Sound analytical, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to achieve agreed outcomes and timelines.

- A commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous professional development.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available for a period of up to 17 months or until December 2027 with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency.
